Social Media Advocate

Our social media team educates and engages our supporters and the public about forests, their benefits, and the impacts of clearcut logging.

Stop ClarcuttingCA is a grassroots campaign, committed for over a decade to educating the public about clearcutting. This widely used timber harvesting technique replaces forests with industrial monoculture tree farms. It degrades forest floor soil and watersheds, decreases biodiversity, threatens wildlife, increases wildfire danger, accelerates climate change, and promotes environmental injustice. It harms us all. Learn more.

The StopClearcutting CA team also fights to preserve our remaining old-growth and mature trees and to stop the global expansion of the wood pellet and biomass incineration industries. Rather than relying on aggressive forest thinning to reduce wildfire risk, we advocate for less harmful and more proven strategies, like home and community hardening. Visit our Resources page to explore the science, news, and more about these issues and more.

If you love forests and the natural world and want to do more to help protect them, join us. We communicate virtually and appreciate whatever time you can give us. Volunteer Opportunities include our Communication, Social Media, and Writers Teams.

Our Social Media Team educates and engages our followers on Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and Threads about forest ecosystems' benefits to climate stability, water supplies, mental health and well-being, and the devastating impacts of clearcut logging and the many other threats to forests. Do you have a passion for forests? Do you have experience posting on Facebook, Instagram, X ( formerly Twitter), or Threads to draw attention to issues you care about? Do you have an interest in honing your posting skills?

If so, consider the Social Media Team of the Stop Clearcutting California Campaign.

In 2019 our posts reached half a million people and doubled our followers on Facebook. We target decision-makers and reporters and dialogue with the public to spur them to action. We seek people with experience in the most popular social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter(X), Instagram, and Threads.

Valuable skills and interests for the Social Media team include:

  • A passion to protect California forests and speak out about the threats they face.
  • Understanding of social media and how it works.
  • Experience with Facebook, Twitter(X), Instagram, and/or Threads.
